In 2011, Calday Grange Grammar School celebrates its 375th anniversary. Proud of its traditions, this highly successful grammar school has always built for the future upon the strengths of the past. This has given Calday a firm foundation for its many academic, sporting and other achievements.
The School is situated in a pleasant residential area of Wirral close to the Dee Estuary. The pupils largely come from the Deeside areas of Wirral. However, in recent years an increasing number are opting to join us from the rest of Wirral and from Cheshire. We do not select from particular postcodes or primary schools, the ability to pass an entrance test is all we ask! The Governors are able to admit any pupil who meets the required standards.
The School has approximately 1500 pupils, including an academic Sixth Form of approximately 500 male and female students.
The School is a Foundation School and became a Technology College on 1st September 1996 enabling us to expand the provision of ICT and develop Science, Mathematics and Technology. Ten years later, in 2006 we also became a Languages College, developing our already unique provision for languages (including Chinese, French, German, Latin, Russian and Spanish). We are one of five schools in the UK to become a "Confucius Classroom" - supporting the Chinese Government in developing Mandarin Chinese in the UK. In 2008 we became a World School and now deliver the International Baccalaureate
